DiggUpdate 2.5 = Digg Frontpage

DiggUpdate
About 1 o’clock this afternoon, I put the finishing touches on DiggUpdate 2.5 and compiled the universal binary. After a quick packaging and a little trip into html to update it’s OpenSoft page, I was ready for launch. Ordinarially, the first place I go is MacUpdate, but not for a DiggUpdate release. Number one place to go for DiggUpdate is obviously Digg. I filled out the digg submission form, and linked to DiggUpdate. Next step is to tell everyone. So I go down my buddy list and tell practiclly everyone online to go digg the story. So I IM Kevin Rose and Blake Burris and Travis and Trace and a few others. Mass Diggage. Kevin said everyone at Digg was checking it out as well and a few of the digg.com guys dugg it too. So that was, what, 15 diggs within minutes. Now it was pretty big on the cloud and with Kevin’s digg, it got to the homepage quick, within the hour. Pretty fast. Then came the mass commenting by Trace and Travis, who I’ve just been informed have been banned from digg. Hold on, I just have to take a moment to laugh. Ok. So, yea, they got banned. If you want, take a look at their comment stream here. It’s pretty funny, but you’re gonna’ have to do a lot of “Show this comment.”

So it looks like the story has over 1k diggs. Last time we got to just under 1600 diggs. We’ll see how far this goes. Don’t forget to check out DiggUpdate and get it if you have a Mac. O yea, here are the 2.5 updates:

  • Added Growl Support.
  • Slim Digg Windows fade away after a short period of time.
  • Slim Digg Windows no longer take focus from Key window.
  • Pause/Resume updates feature added to the menu.
  • Menu visual improvements.
  • Minor bug fixes and enhancements and compatibility check for Digg 3.0.

Ok. Later.
