MacAddict is sweet!

MacAddict Magazine

If you subscribe to MacAddict magazine, go to your July issue and turn to page 59. You’ll see this.

We love Mac OS X’s Menu Extras; these mini menus live in the right-hand side of the top menu bar and provide instant access to useful items such as your Mac’s volume and diplay settings, Bluetooth and AirPort status and more. Apple doesn’t provide a Menu Extra for iTunes, but Dustin Bachrach’s QuickTunes does (freeware, on the Disc, www.dbachrach.com/opensoft). Simply double-click the QuickTunes icon to install the Menu Extra…

It doesn’t get much cooler. Just wanna’ say thanks to MacAddict, and I hope to have many more appearances in various Mac magazines.

The 4th o’ July

All right, so after coming back from Los Gatos California with Dan and San Fran with Scoob and Lina, I took a trip up to Matt’s ranch with Will. Although the little Myers wasn’t there, we still got plenty of explosive action. With guns and fireworks, you can’t get much more Texan. Check out the photostream on flickr.

Here’s a short hunting trip photo trip.

Taking a practice shot
Will goes target practicing.

Choosing his target
Will picks out his target.

The Bas Ass Aiming
Will aims at the poor Bambi deer.

Where's the Deer? It's down!!!
And now the deer is dead, fallen behind the grass and brush.

Smug isn't the perfect word...
And there is the smug grin from Will. His target dead.

Have you gotten’ BOINKed?

Boink
Boink 3.0.0 has been released. Boink (formerly myTunes) is a great utility for iTunes and SonicSwap. It provides all the ease of use of QuickTunes with the playlist sharing, cover art and friend support of the SonicSwap website. This is what I finished up when I was working in Cali. Look for a new version coming soon with even more playlist enhancements. Get Boink now here.

QuickTunes comin’ plus DiggUpdate and Tyler Durden Updates

Ok, so after along time without modification, I’m getting back to some work on QuickTunes, DiggUpdate, and my personal favorite Ten Seconds With Tyler Durden. What should you be looking for in these new releases that will be soon to come (hopefully really soon). Well, OpenSoft Development isn’t Apple, so we don’t mind spoiling the suprise early. Take a look at the next version roadmaps.

QuickTunes 2.2.0

  • “Paused Track” displayed when a song is paused instead of “No Track”
  • Fixes The iTunes hang by surrounding every applescript with “With timeout of 3 seconds … End timeout”

  • Default to smaller window
  • New window design

DiggUpdate 2.1

  • Growl Support
  • Friends’ Comments/Submissions Display
  • Fade Away after a few seconds on the slim window
  • Minor updates for Digg 3.0

Tyler Durden 2.0

  • Add x box to the window to close quickly.
  • Change to 10 second display
  • Add prefs to change update time and fade time

Ok, that’s enough for today’s entry. Next up on my list are the following topics:

  • “Site Redesign”

So until next time,
-Dustin
