		<description>That&#039;s a great post on the competing motives of software developers and users (that can exist in the same person).  Another open source free software business model (that doesn&#039;t require shareware) is value-added services, which makes a project like Drupal tick.  However, that can&#039;t work for every desktop app.

Open source is such a superior model of development, I think we we have to take a step back and look at what makes the closed source business model work.  My thoughts here I think directly apply to that:
